The Elks of Canada is a national, fraternal and charitable
organization, promoting and supporting community needs through volunteer
efforts of local lodges.
We have a long, proud history in Canada, supporting our communities, with emphasis on the
needs of children and a special concern for helping those afflicted with
hearing impairment. We are the largest all-Canadian fraternal
organization, dating back to 1912 when the first lodge was instituted.
We offer an opportunity to give back to the
community and share in the efforts of dedicated men and women to
'make life sweeter, people better, and the
world happier'
... and along the way -
learn, grow and have a little fun!
Elks are organized in local groups called
'lodges', and we have a provincial and national organization to support and
coordinate our work.
The
Manitoba Elks Association, with the Manitoba Elks Foundation, support the
efforts of lodges in Manitoba to provide financial and other forms of aid
to Manitoba youth in need. Some of our major projects include support
for...
·
Central Speech and Hearing Clinic
·
Camp Wannacumbak
·
Westman Regional Hearing Clinic
We also support the health and well-being of our
youth through efforts of individual lodges, responding to the unique needs
of of their community, whether it's helping
overcome a medical challenge or building a new backstop for the ball
diamond... the Elks are there!
Membership
is open to men and women, at least 18 years of age.
